STO

Okay, so yes I do own J.J.Abrahms's Star Trek movie that came out this year, and yes it is quite good. But no, I am by no means a trekkie. You know, the people that are star trek fanatics? I didn't dress up like a clingon for release day, but yes I do know what one is and looks like.

And again, I'm not a trekkie, but I couldn't help but get excited when I heard about Star Trek Online.

Cryptic Studios, the same guys that made City of Heroes, City of Villians, and most recently, Champions Online, created this game in which you control your own space ship and fly around blowing stuff up.

Yeh I know, stuff.

Still, it sounds absolutely amazing and is probably a thousand times more interesting that EVE Online.

And by the way, I already reserved STO and its not out until Feb. 2, 2010!

Bum bum bum!!!!!

Can't Wait

Okay, so the RAM I bought was supposed to be for my christmas present, but while I was looking it up online, my computer froze, AGAIN.

So I couldn't wait, I had to put memory into the computer or I was going to through the thing out the window.

So I cleared off the computer desk, went and washed my hands and got the memory. I opened the memory packaging and set it aside. I popped open the case of my computer and looked around for the memory sticks. I found them buried under some cables beside the hard drive. I grounded myself, (put one hand on the metal case to cause static to jump onto it instead of onto the motherboard of the computer and fry it.) and pulled out one of the 256 mega byte sticks. I then put the 1 gig stick in, put the case back on, started it up, and everything works amazingly....guess ill have to get a different xmas present.

Life in the Fast Lane

Soooooooo guess what?
Nope wrong!
Guess again? Come on punk, guess again!
No.....

Fine I'll tell you.

I just purchased 1 GB of RAM for my computer. And its finally installed and runs amazingly.
(BTW a GB is a gigabyte of Random Access Memory for your computer. It allows you to open more programs, load quicker, do more, etc.)

So I went and bought some memory for my 6 year old computer for which they rarely make it anymore, and it cost me 52$!!! Ridiculous but its just for roughly 6 months till I save up to buy a better one for college.

Fun fun!

I need a job to get money to save for college. And a new computer. A new computer for college. A new computer that I can't afford for a new college I can't afford because.....

I NEED A JOB.

Troubled Plans

So I was waiting all last weekend to see planet 51 and I couldn't find anyone to go with. NOBODY. How unbelievable is that? I called all my friends and they were all busy and I certaintly wasn't about to go by myself. At least now I get to go with my family on my bday.

BDay

Today is my birthday.

Big plans! We're going out to eat and then to see the new cool movie Planet-51. Then we're going back to my house to eat ice cream cake.

Talk About Short Notice

So apparently 95$ for an IB Course Test is due TODAY. Talk about short notice!!! They gave us a form about it in October but didn't bother to tell us when it was due, or what it was about, or why we had to pay. And then BAM I get an email saying money is due by today or you have to pay a late fee. Apparently if you don't pay you get removed from your IB Course.....HECTIC!!!!!

Scientology

WHAT A RETARDED RELIGION.

I'm not one to judge people based off of religion but if you even consider joining scientology than you clearly don't know much about it. They were kidnapped by a evil emperor named Xenu from a far off planet and are being imprissioned on earth.

Agnosticism

So I got bored last night and decided to research Agnosticism. It's an interesting view....not really a religion, just a view on religion. For example: There are like six levels of agnosticism. Starting with Strong Agnosticism, or the view that "I cannot know if God exists, and neither can you." to Agnostic Theism, the view that "I don't know if God exists or not, but since I don't I must believe."

Blogging

So I have no idea what to blog about. Maybe I should blog about blogging. In reality, blogging about blogging is not all too bad of an idea since blogger.com is a blog site where blogger's blog. Blog. What a fun word. I could just say it a hundred million times....hmmmm....
Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.Blog.

New Art

So our artist for Facade has been delaying art for about four and a half months, and now I got kinda tired of it. I have spoken with a new artist who has a nice interest in filling the spot.

The new artist is dedicated, interested, and more importantly experienced. He also meets the needs of website. He has his own company dedicated to website design and hopefully he will be able to design one for us as well. He has a unique art style and was willing to join on the sole request that we start anew and throw all the old, boring art out.

Space Exploration

The problem with me finishing a game is that there are three main steps involved.

Step One: Come up with an idea.
Step Two: Write down the idea and elaborate.
Step Three: Make it.

What normally happens is that I get extremely bored, stumped, or lost during the making of the game and decide to drop it.

This has happened five or six times and most recently during the making of a space tower-defense game.

Though I have recently decided to continue it in a side scrolling space exploration game. On top of that we're still working with Facade. So we'll wait and see what happens.

Ghosts

I watched an episode of Destination Truth in which they went to Ukraine. They were in the city where the Soviet Union had tested nuclear power and it exploded. The town is evacuated and has been for 25 years but is still radioactive. Wearing their suits and walking around the town during day and night with thermal imaging cameras and digital devices looking for ghosts. They even saw some people on the thermal from across the town (when obviously no one would be there).

Weee!

So I started making parody songs to help myself study for Cisco First Year Networking.

Basically, I write lyrics to a popular theme or tune and then i record it at like 11:30 at night when im half asleep. It sounds weird but it is absolutely hilarious. Mainly because I go watch it the next day and don't remember doing it.

Check it out!

And it rained for three days and seventeen nights!

It's still raining!

Rained yesterday
The day before
The day before
Flooded the day before
Probably tomorrow

Rain! Rain! Rain! Is the earth flooding?

Because no one told me.

If the earth is flooding don't you think Bible Man should know? Isn't it something that comes in my job description? Confusion!

Act 1 Scene 1

Opens on a dark construction yard. Bible Man has his lightsaber of truth drawn and is battling the evil minions of El Furiouso. Suddenly Sypher, Bible Man's loyal sidekick shows up wielding a broom. He distracts the minions and runs them away. In the mean time, Bible Man gets struck by the rage dust of El Furiouso which makes him angry.

Bible Man chases down the minions and destroys them.

In his fury, Bible Man is stopped by Sypher.

"Easy Bible Man," says Sypher. "You always told me the quickest way to lose a fight is to lose your temper."

"You're right!" Bible Man replies. "Proverbs 21.3 states that only a fool loses his temper in a bad situation. Imagine that, an angry Bible Man."

Act 1 Scene 1 Fades out.

The World in Glass

Opinions.

What are they?

Are they good?
Are they bad?
Are they neither?
Are they both?

My opinion on one topic might be helpful
My opinion on another might be upsetting.
My opinion on something else might be hurtful.
My opinion on the other might be disagreed with.

So what is an opinion?

Is it a supporting gesture?
A helpful friend?
An interesting insight?
Or is it a bullet, shattering the glass.

The glass of life, that makes someone feel good about themselves.

So do I give out my opinion? Or do I keep it in the barrel of my mind?

Beta on the Brink!

The game we have been striving to create for over a year is finally almost ready to release the demo.

Due to miscommunication, lack of effort, lack of time, busy schedules, and other activities, we have been unable to complete and release the demo of our game.

Coming up very soon, however, we will be releasing, free of charge, the 'demo' for our sidescroller action game, Facade.

Facade, meaning a front, signifies the different personalities and characteristics you take on throughout the game.

The demo will be released for download on our future website free of charge.

As the full game is released, it will be purchasable through our website for a small fee in which you unlock hours of fun and exciting content.

Not a bad deal considering the game is about half done, and I alone have already put about 180 hours into it.

Conquering the Wrath of Rage

So me and Nathaniel were in Coolector's Mall this past weekend.

While there, we say the Bible Man DVD for only $1.99
Needless to say, I bought it.

I didnt have time to watch it up until last night but it is absolutely hilarious............ly bad.

He fights with a light saber and quotes the bible more than my grandmother.

I had to turn it off after the first few minutes because I was laughing my head off at how terrible it was.

I plan to finish it this weekend. Everyone's not invited!

Money Money Money

So I get my first paycheck next Friday.

I've never gotten a paycheck before, so this is my first real one.
I've already calculated the hours that I've worked, how much I get paid an hour, take out taxes, and put together an estimate of how much money I will be making.

I pretty much know what I want to spend it on....kind of.
I know saving is very important, but I don't intend to save the first one.
I need a new computer, or at least the parts of one.
I need a new headset, for music and games.
I need a new game, for stress relief and a break from school and work.

I know I won't be making enough for a new computer, but if I save I will.
I know I can't afford it all, but I definetely want something.

I'm a generous person, this I know. But now it's time I did something because I want to, and not because others want to.

This is my time, my money, my choice.

Its mine!!!!!!

Fun Riddles

To anyone actually reading this, and my own enjoyment...All answers are backwards so you have time to guess before your brain recognizes it.

A man has a bucket that weighs twenty pounds. He puts something into the bucket to make it lighter... what is it?

(eloH A)

To keep me, you must give me. What am I?

(droW ruoY)

Which word in the English language becomes shorter when it is lengthended [with er]

(retrohS)

The buyer doesn't use it, the seller doesn't want it, and the user doesn't see it. What is it?

(niffoC A)

Food helps me, but water hurts me, what am I?

What to Blog

Ever have a moment when you know what you want to write a about, but have no idea how to write it?

Yeh. This is one of those moments.

I know who I need to write, and what I want to write, but how exactly do I write it?

I could start with a funny joke, maybe a simple truth, or even a long paradox.

It's very hard to write on a blank piece of paper, but for some reason writing on a not blank one is easier.

What to blog....what to blog....

Hey I know! I'll blog about not knowing how to write it down!

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I HAVE A JOB! WOOOOOO!!!

I checked my email (without Mrs. Matthew's knowledge, of course) and found an email from my mom.

I had had an interview for a job yesterday and I was feeling really good about it. It turns out, the employer called home and left a message that I had gotten the job. (Apparently the employer didn't know I was at school, or didn't care.)

Anyways, I have a job now and I have to report to it at 5:00 today.

Show me the money!

For Fun

A genius talks to himself;
A crazy genius responds.

A power hungry king might rule a kingdom;
But a power hungry king can't rule himself.

An eraser can erase mistakes;
But a mistake can never be erased. (THINK ABOUT THAT ONE! Ha!)

A good comedian tells jokes;
A great comedian doesn't have to.

Mirroring

When you're taking your friends to dinner in a busy restraunt, and the server brings out 5 rolls.

One for each of the four of you, but what about the fifth?

Sure you could reach for it, but then you might feel guilty if someone else wanted it.

Then again, everyone else ate before the movie when you were working to make money to bring everyone to dinner.

You're really hungry, but you're also a generous person. Then again, you're paying for dinner, so it's technically your roll.

The server might bring more, but if he doesn't, your steak may not be cooked for another hour, and you're very hungry.

Oops! Too late, someone else got the roll.

Note: Its symbolic...and not for rolls.

Think about it and take a guess about what its about.

I'll give you a hint; the roll stands for credit.

Life in Comparison

I am an artist.

No, not a sculptor. Not a painter, architect, or composer.

I am an artist, and my compositions are games. That is, I am a game designer, programmer, and animator.

Though it requires skills on opposite sides of the universe, they really aren't that far apart, an artist and a "game maker".

With drawing, for example, you start with a big blank page. Then you begin adding larger details, very lightly at first, then darker. People can't really tell what it is at this point. But then you start on the smaller details that make your picture unique. Your artwork begins to take shapes, scarred by erase marks and redos. Once you have the skeleton, you start adding color, and making the artwork come alive. It starts to become appealing as you add in the clouds, the atmosphere, maybe a stream with a waterfall, some trees, and possibly even a quiet log cabin.

In comparison, with programming, you start with a big blank empty space. You then begin with the basic outline, the biggest parts of the game, shaping your enviroment, your cube. At first, the big empty cube just looks like a box to onlookers. But then, you begin adding minor details, making tweaks here and there. You fill your box with life, just waiting to jump out and show the world what it feels like. Then you add all the details, the immersion, the beautiful interaction, the realistic graphics, the world that people can relate to, and then you add that last detail, the thing that makes your game unique and perfect.

Both aren't so different, in more ways then one.

Both require an extreme amount of patience, because all the small details are messy, and need to be refined.

Both creators see what they want as an end product before they even begin. Everyone else sees a blank paper as a blank paper. But artists see it as potential, and a willingness to create and expand on what the world sees in that paper.

Both have an audience to view and admire their work, in different ways, but also in similar. A cartoonist might attract a younger artist, and a manga artist might attract young adults. The same is true with game designers, as they look for those who will enjoy the game, and go after them.

Although the two may seem worlds apart, they really aren't so far away after all.

Time Changes More than Time

It's amazing how you view things differently depending on the time it happens, or happened.

That is, you tend to take a different perspective on things depending on how near (or far) they are.

For example:

My nearest brother is two years older than me. Growing up, we were the greatest of enemies. I hated him, and he hated me.

We loved each other, as brothers, but as friends were the furthest we could possible be. In our minds, the other could live on the other side of the world and our lives would be better. We always argued. We were nothing alike, with more differences than similarities. He hated my guts, and I hated his. He was always there, and it seemed we were always bugging the other.

That's when we were younger. We were brothers, and anything less might have been a boring disappointment.

Today, however, my brother is packing up to leave for college, and I am man enough to admit I am sad to see him go. Time has changed the way our relationship works, and has taken its toll on both of us.

On one hand, we don't have to fight over a computer, or a game, or some silly argument. On the other, I don't have someone to pick on, to share ideas with, or to shoot hoops with after school.

The time we have spent together: 16 years
The time we have left: 5 hours

Sure, Ill see him from time to time (no pun intended.) But it just wont be the same. He was my brother, he is my brother, and he will always be my brother.

Time can change us both, and our relationship, but it can never change the fact that he is my brother.

Follow Me

And I shall love you forever.

Time is in Control

I'm a Junior. That's amazing.

I already know where I want to go to College. I already know where I want to work. I already know what I want to do. I already know where I want to live. I already know what I plan to do.

I don't really know why I have made all these plans. If anything, my life has taught me that everything is unpridictable. Plans will always change, things will always go wrong.

Though, it seems so close, and maybe that is why I plan. It seems so very near, that I will soon be off.

Weird, as the words "Two Years" can be interpreted in so many ways. To me, it's the amount of time until I go to college, which seems very soon. And at the same time, it is the amount of time until I will be on my own, which seems so very far away.

What of those that are closest to me? What is two years for them?

For my dad, it is a horrible memory that is too close for liking; but also another two years that he has to put up with me.

For my mom, it is a second job to pay the bills, that maybe she can quit within the time; but also is the short time to monday, when she starts her busy week again.

Or what for my dogs? Living day by day, with not a care in the world. Where will they be in two years?

I am still amazed how two years can be interpreted in so many different ways....if only time didn't control our lives..........if only...

Welcome

You laugh at the name now: But you just wait.

One day, when you are being attacked by Giant Evil Killer Cupcakes, Bible Man will not be there to save you.........

............because it's God's will.
Up up and away!
