New Book: Thoughts?

So I have been looking through and posting some of my older writing and now im curious if I should keep writing it. So! To anyone who reads this. Leave me a comment, tell me what you think about it thus far, and if you want to continue on the journey of a lifetime!!!!

New Book: Chapter Two

He ducked under some undergrowth to avoid being spotted and made his way to the east. He had left his torch back in the burned fortress and had to get dangerously close to the assembly to see where he needed to go.

“The elves will know what to do.” He thought to himself.

He had to be silent, he had to be cautious, and he had to be smart.

He made his way through the growth and into a small patch of tall grass. From this point he could make out silhouettes around the campfires. He could not tell what was happening here, only that the gathering did not hold any men, elves, or gnomes.

He had no time to waste, he needed to reach the Eastern Forest by dawn, or it would be more difficult for him to avoid any unneeded confrontation. To keep from suspicion, he lay down on his belly and crawled back into the undergrowth, this would prevent his shadow from being seen by anyone, or any thing. As he made it to the edge of the brush, he went into a crouch and began slowly moving to the northeast, away from the gathering.

He was far enough away now that he could begin to move at a bit of a quicker pace, but decided to stay at a crouch just incase. It was a smart decision.

He heard footsteps coming his way and he slowed down, but decided to keep moving, quietly. Their footsteps were heavy, crushing twigs with each step. When they came within about 100 feet, he could make out shadows, which meant one was holding a source of light.

He could continue at this speed, but then risk being seen by the beings coming his way. Then again, if he stopped, he risked not making it to his destination on time.

He decided it was best not to stop, even if seen he could try to outrun them. He went for it; he picked up his pace and was determined to get out of this region.

He was almost to the clearing; from there he would be able to see the tree line. That was where he needed to be. He started to stand up, and go at more of a jogging pace. He got clumsy.

As he stepped his foot got caught under a heavy stone. He tripped and fell to the ground, landing with a heavy “Thud.”

“What was that?” A low voice from behind reached out and grabbed his shoulder, as he knew a hand would soon be doing.

He glanced down at the rock, and tried pulling his leg free. He saw shadows creeping all around him, and an instant later heard screaming in the distance. He panicked, and thrust out his dagger, ready to take on whatever came close.

The shadows came in around him, cloaked with blue hoods. One held a small mesh sack. Kai became distracted, and began screaming for help. He felt the dagger being taken from his hand and his arms restrained. He shook his head vigorously, but could not prevent the small sack to be placed over his head, and then could not prevent himself but passing out from the struggle.

The light he had seen moments before, had now faded away and he was left, with darkness.

New Book: Chapter One

Kai set the letter back onto the burned table and took a look inside another room. Everything was black. He had a grim look on his face and had to hold a handkerchief to his nose to keep from inhaling the smoke. He continued down the dark corridor until he reached a big wooden door. He recognized it to be similar to the doors in the castle where he grew up. It was approximately 20 feet tall. Its handles were made of pure steel that hadn’t been touched by the fire, and the engraving of an imperial helmet could still be seen. He reached his glove-covered hand out to feel the smoothness of the fine steel, and gripped it tightly. He gave it a slight yank, but the door was too heavy. He set the brightly burning torch on the cement floor and used his, now free hand, as leverage. He gave the door another pull, this time with all of his force. He heard an abrupt squeaking noise, and gave the handle another tug. He could feel something within the door loosen, and heard another creak.

Just then the handle of the door snapped, and Kai lost his balance, falling to the ground. He accidentally loosened his grip, and the handle bounced onto the floor. Clank, Clank, Clank. The noise was loud and echoed through the small corridor. He cringed, and hoped no one would have heard it.

After a few minutes of pure silence, he was convinced that his presence was still unnoticed. He glanced up at the big wooden door, it was still unmoved. He did not understand why he was not able to budge it; but for the sake of time, he picked up the torch and moved on. He turned right, and moved silently down what seemed to be an opening in the wall. He had never been here, and before the fire had only noticed a painting of the emperor when he look this way. What he found was a steep corridor that continued deep into darkness.

“What is being hidden here?” he muttered to himself.

He lifted one of his legs over and into the hole, and then the other. The torch he held illuminated the hallway within seconds. He couldn’t see the whole way down, but could see about 10 feet in front of him; which was enough to know where he was going.

It seemed to be about 5 minutes by the time Kai finally reached the end, or what he hoped was the end. It was a small wooden door that was worn by mold and erosion. He opened it with an easy push and slowly stepped into a small room, about twice the size of the corridor he had just come to. What he saw took his breath away.

Across the enclosed room, about seven feet away from where he stood, hung a black flag. It was parallel to the wall, and bore the symbol of Syl, the shamed warrior.

When he was younger, his uncle had told him stories of a great warrior who roamed the lands as a mercenary, fighting for money. His uncle had said that the warrior had worked for so many races of the world that he had made a thousand enemies. He was exiled from the lands of Sirvia by the divine council; the high elves of the east, the men of the west, and the gnomes of the north. He vowed revenge on the Sirvians, and was never heard from again.

Kai caught his breath, and his eyes showed fear as he looked around the room. It held an empty space, with a few broken shelves, and a broken window. It appeared that this room had been ravaged by flames.

He walked over and examined the window. It was about three feet off the ground, and was approximately seven feet tall. There was no glass left attached to it, indicating it had been busted out. Kai peered over the edge of the window, and what he saw made him dizzy: rushing water, 200 feet below him, smashing against the base of the castle walls. He felt the wind blowing into his face, and a slight sprinkle fall from the dark clouds above.

The window faced south, and in the distance he saw smoke from campfires; lots of campfires. It seemed to be an assembly of some kind.

“You there, step away from the window.”

He heard a deep voice come from behind him; he turned slowly, and was face to face with two heavily armored ogres. Each had a spear pointed at his chest, and one held a tin lamp. He grabbed his purple colored sash and covered his face.

“You do not belong here.” One said.
“You’re coming with us.” The other grunted.

The beings were very well equipped and the only way out was that which he had come, for the depths of the window would surely end in death.

He reached into his left pocket and produced a handful of, what appeared to be ash. He raised it above his head, and threw it to the ground. With a loud “Pop”, the room filled with smoke. The Ogres covered their eyes, and within seconds and smoke had been filtered out the window and into the air. The young human they had been arresting had now disappeared into the darkness.

New Book: Introduction

It has been three days since I have gotten any sleep. I spend my restless nights staring out of this window of the keep. I write to you to tell you I am missing you, and loving you. How is my two year old boy doing? Is he strong and healthy? There is talk that the war will be over soon; General Haze is preparing a speech to give to all of us. Many among us think he is going to give us all a vacation. I doubt it. If the kids are in the room with you, tell them their father loves them. I can’t wait to see them again. I have to go now; the assembly horn has been blown. I will write to you soon.

I love you…

Regards,
Simpson

A lifelong journey

For years I have been in search of a good game. A great game that would satisfy me forever and ever. I have played countless online games from role playing, to shooters, to racing, and more. Yet, through all the sifting, I have yet to encounter that one game I want.

That's probably part of the reason I want to go into game design, to make that one perfect game that suits all my needs and meets all my expectations.

But for now, the game I am moving onto next is called Runes of Magic, or RoM. Almost everything I've heard about it says it's good, then again a hungry man calls scraps a feast.

I've also heard its a clone of a pay to play game, the most popular on the web.

I want a game to enjoy, and if we get out of school tomorrow, I intend to play RoM all day.

Msst Msst Msst Msst (Partay Boy)

So a bunch of people have been bragging about how they had an awesome new year's eve. To me it was just another day.

My parents went out with their friends to dinner and a dance and they invited the couple's son, a boy of my age who I know but I'm not really friends with. It was really awkward, because I didn't know what he liked and it basically ruined my plans. I was supposed to go to a friends house and hang out, but that didn't work because my parents invited him without asking me.

I didn't really mind, he just stayed in the living room and played Wii the whole time. Then at midnight we had this fake whine, ugh! It was gross grapejuice.

2010 - midnight - Day 1 - BORING!!!!
